Introduce yourself & tell us a little more about you.
My name is Charley, I’m 26 years old. I’m from Denver, Colorado and I’ve lost over 100 pounds. I’m so excited to be here making this video!
What is confidence to you?
Confidence to me is owning and loving the skin that you are in! Regardless of if you have stretch marks, cellulite, or loose skin you own it, love it and appreciate it. We only get one body so why not love it? Why not walk in the room and encourage other people by saying ‘Yeah I have all this but I’m still happy and content with myself’? That’s what I try to do.
What makes you decide that you need to make a change and start a healthy lifestyle?
For me I was almost 300 pounds, and I didn’t feel happy with myself. I was always tired, sluggish and sad. I just didn’t feel like my normal self, and I knew it probably had to do with my weight. It clicked immediately that I needed to get in the gym and do something.
Have you started a transformation & quit before? What made this time different?
Of course! I think everybody has. I’ve done keto, basically any kind you can think of. You're always looking for a quick fix, but you have to understand that this is a lifestyle change. In order for some things to stick you have to stay consistent, you have to stay dedicated. You have to learn what’s good for your body and what’s not good for your body. Otherwise, you’ll just regain all that weight and lose the hard work you have put in. You can gain it all back if you don’t learn to stick to what you know, stick to what was working for you when you first started.
What are the challenges you encounter during your journey? How do you face them?
I was fighting with myself and always comparing myself to other people. I had to learn that this was my own journey, this is my body. What somebody else’s body does, mine might not do and I had to learn that. Your body is going to do what it wants to do, that was one thing I had to learn. Another was stay off the scale! I tell everybody to stay off the scale, she is so discouraging. Just don’t do it!
How has What Waist helped you along your journey?
What Waist has helped me be more comfortable working out and when I say that I mean their clothes fit you so well. What Waist clothes fit you amazingly, they’re soft, they hug you in all the right places, they hide your loose skin they hide your everything. I just love that about What Waist. Their waist trainers are comfortable, I even have three of them! I have worn them from start to finish and they are all so comfortable. I can wear them to work, I can wear them to workout, I can do anything in them and not feel uncomfortable. It encourages me to want to go workout. You know once you get that fresh new workout gear you just want to go workout immediately and that’s how I felt. I felt confident in What Waist, I felt secure, and I just always wanted to go to the gym. What Waist has helped me through so much of this journey that I just cannot be thankful enough. I want to thank What Waist for this, even for this opportunity. I would never have thought I would be here answering these questions. I can’t wait to keep inspiring and motivating other people.
