What motivated you to start your journey?

I was overweight pretty much all my life. It runs in my family, so it was all I’ve ever really known. When I moved to Atlanta, I just lost my Nana at a young age, and she had a lot of health complications. It affected me so much and really put my health into perspective for me. I ended up getting a job at Planet Fitness because I wanted to make myself take my health more seriously. I was never consistent with my fitness for longer than maybe 3 weeks, and when I wouldn't see any results, I would give up. For about 2 years, I worked out, but it was so inconsistent. In July 2020, I fell into a bad depression, and I hated myself so much because what my body looked like.

I started going back to the gym and gave myself a goal to stay consistent. I could stay consistent long enough to at least see results. Going to the gym helped me shift the way I looked at myself and my body and getting into fitness really helped me find and love myself!

Starting my fitness journey really helped me out of a bad mental health space, so once I started seeing results in my mind and body, it was up from there!

How has What Waist helped your journey?

When I first bought my What Waist band, I couldn’t even fit in it for 2 years. So, when I started to notice my body changing, I made a goal for myself to be able to at least zip it up all the way. Once I was able to do that, I started wearing it to the gym during my workouts and I noticed myself losing inches off my waist so quickly! What Waist has always played a role in keeping me motivated to reach my ultimate body goal.

What advice would you give someone that’s looking to begin a new fitness journey?

If I could give someone any advice, it would be to just stay consistent and don’t count yourself out. It’s not always going to be an easy journey but don’t let the hard parts discourage you because of on the other side of those hard times are the best results! Set small goals for yourself because you can reach your biggest ones!

Consistency is key! As long as you are being consistent and showing up, you will see results! Just never give up on yourself!
